Straight Answers To Common Questions
FAQs
Websites, SEO, Google Ads And Working With Me
How long does a website take to build?
Most websites are completed within 3 to 4 weeks from the point I receive your content and sign-off on the design. More complex projects with custom functionality can take 6 to 8 weeks. I’ll give you a realistic timeline during your discovery call.
Do I own the website on a pay monthly plan?
On pay monthly plans, MetaEdge retains ownership of the website while you’re a subscriber, similar to leasing. If you cancel after the minimum term, you can purchase the site outright. On one-off bespoke builds, you own everything from day one.
Will my website rank on Google?
Every site I build includes technical SEO foundations: proper heading structure, meta tags, schema markup, fast load times, and Google Search Console submission. This gives you the best possible platform to rank. For ongoing SEO growth, I offer a dedicated SEO retainer service.
How much does it cost?
It depends on scope. A few notifications and auto-replies is a very different job to a full CRM and reporting setup. I’ll quote after a free call once I know what you need. You can also see my general pricing.
Which tools do you use?
Wherever possible I work with what you already have: your website, email, Google Business Profile and any booking or job management software. For connecting things together I often use tools like Make.com, plus GA4, Google Tag Manager and Looker Studio for tracking and reporting. I’ll recommend a CRM only if you actually need one.
Do I need a new website?
Not usually. Most of this can be added to your existing site. If your current website makes tracking or capturing enquiries difficult, I’ll tell you honestly, and website design is something I do as well.
How long does SEO take to work?
Honest answer: SEO takes time. Most clients start seeing meaningful ranking improvements within 3 to 6 months. Competitive markets can take longer. I’ll be upfront about realistic timelines for your specific industry and location from day one.
What does your SEO retainer include each month?
Every month includes: technical SEO monitoring and fixes, on-page optimisation, content creation or optimisation, local SEO management, link building activity, and a plain-English monthly report showing exactly what was done and what changed.
Do I need SEO if I'm already running Google Ads?
Yes, and running both together actually improves performance. Google Ads gives you immediate visibility while SEO builds long-term organic traffic. Over time, as SEO delivers more free leads, you can reduce your ad spend while maintaining the same lead volume.
How long does Local SEO take to show results?
Most clients start seeing meaningful keyword movement within 3 to 4 months. Map pack rankings typically appear within 2 to 3 months for less competitive areas, and 4 to 6 months for more competitive markets. SEO is a long-term investment, but unlike paid ads, the results compound over time.
What is the Google Business Profile and why does it matter?
Your Google Business Profile (GBP) is what appears in the map pack, the 3 local results that show up above the organic listings. It’s often the first thing a local customer sees and directly drives calls and direction requests. Optimising it properly is one of the highest-return activities in local SEO.
Do I need SEO if I'm already running Google Ads?
Yes, they work together. Google Ads gives you immediate visibility while SEO builds long-term organic presence. Organic rankings don’t stop when your budget runs out, and over time SEO typically delivers a lower cost per lead than paid ads. Many of my best-performing clients run both.
How much should I spend on Google Ads?
It depends on your industry and location. I’ll recommend a starting budget based on your keyword costs during the free audit, and I won’t recommend more than you need.
